BELLVILLE — Well, not literally. But Bellville has a host of events for this upcoming weekend that will be hotter than a blue blaze! Texas Select from Forged in Fire will be at the Austin County Fair Grounds the weekend of April 1 in Bellville.
Downtown Bellville will also be jumping with the Bellville Market Day with the Easter Bunny and the Bellville Farmers Market.
Phenix Knives Blacksmith Shop in Bellville kicked off the Forged in Fire event in 2018. Eighteen Forged in Fires blade smiths from five states descended on Bellville and caught the city on fire.
It kept growing and the appreciation of hand-crafted knives expanded, as did the Texas Select event.
It grew so much that the event moved to the Austin County Fair Convention and Expo Center, where the hall is filled to the brim with accomplished knife makers from across the nation and a loyal fan base that keeps them coming back. In the back, Forged in Fire events are held. And this year, 145 blade smiths and knife makers from 23 states will be in attendance. There are no factory knives here!
Scheduled forging demonstrations include the Chopping Competition, Ballistic Dummy Lab sword testing, Live Auction, Tomahawk Throwing and Knife-making experiences. Forged in Fire Judge J. Neilson will be on hand to join the fun this year.
If this were not enough, the Battleship Texas Foundation will bring one of the BB-35’s anti-aircraft guns.
