Mark W. Price hired as Colorado County

COLUMBUS - The Board of Directors of the Colorado County Appraisal District is pleased to announce that on March 28, Mark W. Price accepted the position of chief appraiser of the district. Price has been in property tax appraisal for 38 years. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics. He was employed by the Travis Central Appraisal District for 23 years, serving as a business person-al property appraiser, director of business personal property and director of real property appraisal. He returned to Brazos County as the chief appraiser for the Brazos Central Appraisal District in January 2008 and retired in December 2021.

Price has been married to Mary Lou Price for 43 years. They have three sons, two grandsons and a granddaughter. Two of their sons are married and live in Austin. Their other son lives in College Station.

Mary Lou is the daughter of Mildred Berger Kalinec, and granddaughter of Joe and Emma Berger. She spent many days visiting her grandparents on their farm just south of Weimar. In 2020, Mark and Mary Lou purchased the remaining 15 acres of the original farm from her brother and are currently renovating the property as their new home. The board is looking forward to working with Price.
