LA GRANGE — Sealy boys soccer looked very sharp in their La Grange tournament Jan. 5 at Leopards Field in La Grange by taking down Bandera High School with a final score of 4-0.

Sealy made some nice plays and were in the right spots at the right time, resulting in two goals a piece in each half.

“Just us taking care of the little details that we’ve been preaching about every time we’ve been able to step on the field in a game-like situation,” said Sealy head boys soccer coach Joshua Kirton on how they were able to win hand0ily.

“We’ve gotten better and better and better, which is good to see. Remind them to let the ball do the work, control the small things. Good passes, good touches, stuff like that. Being able to move the ball side-to-side, being able to stretch them out vertically and horizontally. I think it’s just we’re getting more comfortable and we’re kind of believing in what we’re doing. It’s good to see.

We still got work to do, but this is definitely our best performance of the year so far.”

Tigers senior striker D’vonne Hmielewski scored two goals for the contest, one in the first half and one in the second half. “We were able to capitalize off their mistakes,” Hmielewski said.

“My teammates gave me good passes and I just finished them." Hmielewski had the honors of scoring the first goal for the Tigers at the 21:31 mark in the first half. After controlling the ball offensively for most of the period, Sealy added another goal right before halftime and contin - ued to put shots on goal during the second half, one that even ricocheted off the right post with 21:18 to play from senior forward

Amador Lopez at about the 15- yard line and into the left side of the net for a 3-0 lead.

Hmielewski put a shot on goal a few minutes later that was saved, then his second goal in the 13th minute wrapped things up en route to a 4-0 victory.
