Long way back to yesterday

This could be a title to a coun - try-western album. It is not. I have had the honor of writing these little articles for several years. Doing this, I must recount all the events and occurrences that happened in my youth and, at times, my present.

This could be a title to a coun - try-western album. It is not. I have had the honor of writing these little articles for several years. Doing this, I must recount all the events and occurrences that happened in my youth and, at times, my present.

At my age, distant memories are the easiest. I frequently for - get why I even went into a room moments before. I would drive right past my real destination while charting a new course of a place I had only been think - ing about. Like, one time, I had grandkids in the backseat and I was taking them to school. I drove right past the school and headed straight to work. The kids asked me where I was going, and I quickly did a cover story, telling them I was taking a new way to school! I can drive up to drive-thru at a fast-food restaurant, and Dianne could tell me what she

wants to eat. When I pushed the button and they answered, I al - ready forgot what she wanted. However, ask me what happened when I was ten years old and I can tell you like it was yesterday. Yes, I know what it sounds like, but I think I'm good.

Dredging up these memories to write about makes me remember the good and the bad things I had done. Sometimes I wish yesterday never was. I have said and done things that I wish I never did. It would be a long road back to yester day to put things back together again. How many yesterdays would I like to have back? There are no do-overs for yesterday. Tomorrow never comes and we don't know if we will get through today. So, let's live life like there is no tomorrow.

Use good China a lot. Ev - ery day is a reason to celebrate

(Psalm 95:2), Don't just cele - brate holidays. Celebrate every day (Psalm 145:7); This one is right on the nose. Now it's a family reunion at funerals. Don't save things for that per - fect day. It doesn't exist (Deut. 30:15), Do not fear. This is mentioned 365 times in the Bi - ble (Isaiah 41:10); take time to enjoy. Nothing is so important you can't have fun (Ecclesiastes 2:24). A perfect house, yard, car, bank account does not mean a perfect life. You will never have a perfect life. It will only cause stress (Cor.14:40). Worship together. Where two or more are gathered, God is there also (He - brew 10:25). I long for yesterday at times. It seemed so easy back then. How - ever, when people say they wish for the good ol' days, are they really talking about outhouses in the winter and no A/C in the summer?
