VICTORIA — The Columbus High School boys and girls golf teams took home district championships April 3 and 4 at Riverside Golf Club in Victoria.

The Cardinals brought two boys teams and one girls team for the tournament. The boys “white” team finished seventh out of 11, then the boys “red” team placed first with a two day total of 656.

Adam Schobel earned a third place individual spot while Kaldon Roensch won the individual title outright. Roensch had a two day score of 77-81, Schobel with an 85-79, Camdon Pitchford with a 79-90, Cullen Loessin with an 83-88, and Trace Braden with a 98-84.

The girls team won their team title with a combined score of 787. Thea Schobel carded a 9449, which earned her a second place bid individually. Jordyn Templeton finished right behind Schobel in third place as an individual with a score of 97-95. Oth er scores were Kambrie Toppel with a 110-95, Katharine Burnett with a 104-105, and Summer Adams with a 103-110.

This was the fifth season in a row that both the boys and girls Columbus golf teams are district champions. The boys “red” team along with the girls team will compete in the regional tournament at Scott Schreiner Golf Club in Kerrville. The girls will tee off April 17 and 18 with the boys following April 19 and 20.
