I found safety and security in my mother’s arms as a child. I found all the answers to all my questions on Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. I learned about danger on The Roadrunner Show. As a child, I found a place to hide and just be. Unfortunately, those days are long past, and I sought my God place between the rows of tomatoes and squash. I found my refuge, my quiet place where God and I could commune.
We feel overwhelmed and stressed in this place we call our world. You can't seem to find it when you feel you have to get away from it all. When you feel spiritually depleted, insecure, or vulnerable, you must seek out your God place. Your God place may be different than mine. Sometimes, your God place may be just where I need to be at that time.
Dianne’s God place is when she is out walking and listening to her praise and worship music. She loves to walk in the woods and see the beauty of God surrounding her when she needs her God time. I love her God place that she retreats to, and sometimes I do the same. After all, there are only so many seasons for a garden to hoe and weed. On top of that, my gardening time is limited and honey bees just aren’t cooperating with me. Is my God place that I go to now disappearing? No matter.
The beauty of it all is that you don’t have to be anywhere. Your God place is right in your heart. You may not have a garden. You may not have woods to walk in, but you do have God in your heart. You can laugh or cry or both. You can pour out your feelings so He can pour in His love. You look into your heart and there He is!
Psalm 46:10 - “Be still and know that I am God.” He is within you. He has never left you. No matter the storms that toss you about, you can walk with peace in your heart because He is there. There He is and there you are also.
