Over this past weekend, the Bernardo and Cat Spring volun- teer fire departments held their annual fundraisers. Giving up our money for a fundraiser is one thing, but doing it for the good of your community is another. Volunteer fire departments, usually in rural areas, depend on several funding sources. One is the community fundraiser that helps with new equipment, fire -fighting tools, bunker gear and essential fire-fighting training.
“The great thing about getting a meal from a volunteer fire department fundraiser is that I have never known anyone to go away hungry. Going to these fundraisers is well worth the time, effort and money," said Banner Press Editor John Jones.
Have a little fun, then head on down to a volunteer fire department event.
Let’s not forget about all the other worthwhile nonprofits out there that depend on fundraisers to keep on serving others.
