LA GRANGE — The La Grange Lady Leps softball team was defeated by Caldwell High School with a final score of 4-0. Caldwell's defense and hitting was too much as the Lady Leps weren't able to get much going with their bats.

“We played them much better today than we did the last round,” said La Grange head softball coach Amanda Arlund.

“Alyssa Licconi did a great job keeping us in the game the first four innings. Absolute great job keeping them guessing. Hav ing them only score one early in the game was huge. Our at bats, we had a lot of opportunities. We were hitting the ball just right at them. Things just didn't fall.

Things happen, but overall, we played much better and that's what the big take away has to be." Caldwell didn't waste any time getting on the scoreboard, marking their first run on a fielder's choice after a walk, steal, and a grounder to second base. The Lady Hornets didn't score their second run until the fifth inning after a double and a RBI single to right center.

Caldwell's Kelly Urbanovsky then reached on an error from a fly ball before Lady Hornets in-fielder Callie Fletcher was hit by a pitch, then Caldwell grounded out to shortstop on a fielder's choice to send another run home and make it 3-0.

Caldwell scored their last run on a sacrifice bunt that was fielded around the base paths after a previous steal. A throw to third, then a throw home that was a tad late put the score at 4-0 in the top of the sixth inning.

Two pop ups and a strikeout from La Grange in their final atbat led to a 4-0 road victory for Caldwell.
