FLATONIA — The Flatonia Bulldogs baseball team held Ganando High School scoreless April 11 at Bulldogs Field in Fla- tonia by a final result of 4-0. Fla tonia was able to come up with some big hits and the pitching was excellent throughout the en- tire game.

“We got some depth pitching wise,” said Flatonia head baseball coach Rodney Stryk. "I wish we could get the bats more consistent and string some hits together, have some big innings, because we delivered on pitch- ing the last few games and we're gonna need those sticks to come around even though we do have some quality pitching."

Flatonia sophomore pitcher Titan Targac came one out short of a complete game due to reach - ing his pitch count, but fanned 13 batters in the process and threw a beautiful outing without allow - ing a run. "On the mound, I try to get my head as clear as I can,” Targac said. "Just focus on the pitch, the spot I want it at, and I just try to execute that spot, exe- cute that pitch." Targac recently committed to play college baseball at Texas A&M University last fall and also played summer ball for a United States select team. "I've always been an A&M fan growing up," said Targac on the commitment. "It just felt like the place to me. When they of - fered me, I started smiling real big and it just felt like I knew that was the place I wanted to go." The Bulldogs scored their first runs in the bottom of the third inning as they drew the bases loaded with a double to left cen - ter from Targac, senior infielder Dayton Cliffe was hit by a pitch, and senior first baseman Camden Bosl walked before a sacrifice fly sent Targac home for the first run of the game. Junior infielder Cale Janecka then knocked a single to right field to make it 2-0.

A sharp double down the third baseline from Cliffe in the bottom of the fourth inning gave his team a 3-0 advantage after a walk. Another walk in the bot - tom of the sixth inning followed by a sacrifice bunt from senior outfielder Keyshaun Green led to an error from Ganado on a grounder by Targac, which al- lowed Flatonia's fourth and final run to score.

After Targac reached his pitch count in the top of the seventh inning with two outs, sophomore Beck Zimmerman switched from catcher to pitcher and closed out the game with a strikeout and a 4-0 victory.
