RESS COLUMBUS — A full house, or rather a full Buddy Rau Conference Room at the Stafford Opera House in Columbus, heard from various city officials on what is happening and what will happen in Columbus.
Columbus Mayor Lori An Gobert gave a presentation update on the projects around the city. She also gave a ten- tative timeline on when the I-10 expan - sion would come through the city limits and to FM 2434.
Betty Hajovsky presented for the Columbus Community Hospital and the outstanding accomplishments of the hospital and the much-needed building additions. Extra rooms for treatment and surgeries are in the mix.
Special mention was given to the Co lumbus Physical Therapy team. CPT receives referrals even from Katy/Houston hospitals.
Bruce Tesch with the Columbus Eco nomic Development Board brought everyone up to date on its accomplishments, including the fantastic amount of money it paid for scholarships.
Jim Connor, the Columbus Indepen dent School District Superintendent, laid out plans focusing on school safety and security.
Included in his talk were the formation of a school district police department, security fencing around each school campus, and an emphasis on technical class- es for those not wanting to go to college.
