FAYETTEVILLE – Arts for Rural Texas’ annual ArtWalk event is returning to Fayetteville on May 6 and 7, and the community is buzzing with excitement. The event, which showcases the work of artists and artisans from across the state of Texas, promises to be a celebration of creativity and community.
ArtWalk, which is now in its nineteenth year, has become a beloved tradition in Fayetteville, drawing visitors from all over the state. This year, the event will feature a diverse array of artwork, including paintings, sculpture, photography, pottery, jewelry, and more from artists like Janice McCubbin, Tracey Wegenhoft, Cherri Fryer and more. For those interested in purchasing artwork, there will be plenty of opportunities to do so, with nearly 60 artists selling their work directly to visitors.
Live music is another hallmark of ArtWalk 2023. Annie Rost and Fayetteville Mayor Mike Stroup will kick off the weekend in the Fayetteville Bandstand Gazebo on Saturday at 10 a.m. Bill Pekar takes the stage at 12:30 p.m. with Jack “The Sax” Carr rounding out the afternoon at 3 p.m. Visitors and locals alike are invited to stay on the square for a free concert featuring “Houston’s First Lady of Blues,” Trudy Lynn, and the Steve Krase Band at 6 p.m. in the big tent. Sunday’s musical guests include Sunday morning bluegrass with Jeff Robertson at 10 a..m and a local gem out of Industry, Amanda Peevler Adams at 12:30 p.m..
ArtWalk offers something for everyone. Families are encouraged to stop by the children’s booth which will host face painting, spin art, rock painting and other crafts and activities for kids of all ages.
R&R Shaved Ice will cool visitors down. Taqueria Abundancia and G’s 183 Pit Stop will have their food trucks parked for lunch, dinner and snacks throughout the weekend in addition to Fayetteville’s staple restaurants: Joe’s Place, Orsak’s Café, and The Wine Bar at the Grand Fayette hotel.
