Columbus, Schulenburg, and Bellville qualify for State Golf

Three area teams have made it to the UIL state golf tournament in Columbus, Schulenburg, and Bellville High Schools. The Schulenburg boys qualified as a team in Class 2A and fin - ished third in regionals with a combined two-day score of 733. The Shorthorns are coached by Rich Hoogen - doorn and the team possesses players such as Jackson Faith, Kaz McBride, Brycen Schramek, Reid Janda, and Jayse Janda.

Columbus is also heading to state as the 3A Region IV boys champions with Kaldon Roensch winning the individual championship. Rounding out the state qualifiers is Bellville, who finished second overall as a team and Cooper Hollomon placed third as an individual.

The state boys tournament is being held May 22 and 23 with Class 4A play ing at Legends Golf Course in Kingsland, 3A at Jimmy Clay Golf Course in Austin, and 2A at Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin. Tee times are still to be determined.
