MENTZ — The Texas German Society held its Texas State Convention in Mentz on April 22. Convention delegates and guests from across the state were welcomed to Mentz Hall for the 40th Anniversary Convention.
State President Kathryn Haluska called the convention to order and Colorado County Judge Ty Prause welcomed everyone.
The La Grange High School Dancers and the La Grange High School Polka Band entertained the crowd while a catered meal, furnished by Mikeska’s Barbecue, was enjoyed.
The meal had Green Bohnen, Deutsche Kartoffeln, Sauerkraut, Wurst, Riderbrust, Brot, Eis Tee and Bannanenpudding.
State scholarships were awarded to Allie Habeck, Nina Wallach and Roger Jarbo. Marian McClinton, the new German Society President and officers were recognized. Auf Wiedersehen.
