RESS COLUMBUS — What do pullin’ tails and wranglin’ steers have to do with each other? The Colorado County Fair 19th Annual Ragin Cajun event partnered the two together for fun and excitement on April 29, at the Colorado County Fairgrounds in Columbus.

Serious crawfish eaters and equally serious team roping cowboys and girls took center stage while everyone had a great time supporting the fair board for scholarships. Tables were sold at $350 a table for VICE (Very Important Craw- fish Eaters) and for individuals wanting to put their money to a good cause. The sell-out mudbug eaters were served by Junior Fair Board members and buckets, literally, of crawfish were doled out. Mu sic kept the momentum going with Darrel Appelt doing the deejaying during the day.

Over 75 team ropers competed in the team roping for points. People came and went to see the dirt kicking up and the ropes flying with the tandem approach where everything must go just right to tag the steer at the head and down at the feet by the second roper. Horses and riders must work as a team to bring in the best time and points.
