The Faith Academy Track Team competed at the TAIAO State Meet on Saturday, May 6.
Twenty teams were in attendance.
Faith Academy is a small team of 10 kids: three juniors, two sophomores and five freshmen. They have proven all season they
may be small but they are huge
in determination and confidence. The top two finishers for the Knights were junior Noah Figueroa and freshman Ethan Stegent.
Figueroa placed first in the discus with a throw of 13208, which was a personal best and new school record. He also placed second in the shot put with a put of 38-02.
Stegent placed first in the 1600 with a thrilling finish. Winning
by 1/10 of a second, he ran an impressive 4:56 which was a per sonal best and also a new school record. He was second in the 3200 with a time of 10:51, anoth er personal best and new school record.
Sophomore Elizabeth Walk - er was second in the pole vault clearing 8'0' and junior Luke
Wicklein was fourth in the 200 with a personal best 25.30. He
also had a personal best time in his 400 at 57.12.
Continuing the trend of personal bests were Mikaela Skardenni, 6:26 in the 1600, Daniela Skardenni, 6:35 in the 1600 and 2:51 in the 800, and Noelle Walk -
er 71.83 in the 400.
In the Junior Varsity Division, freshman Isabella Galvan was
third in the discus with a throw of 73' 09, a personal best and
third in the shot put with a put of 25' 08', a personal best and new school record. Sophomore Emma Duron had a personal best in shot put 20' 0' improving her put by 10 inches.
The team had a successful season and are looking forward to 2024.
