BELLVILLE — Travis Koehn, Criminal District Attorney for Austin County, announced that a jury sentenced Damien Eveline, 44, of Sealy, to 60 years in the Texas Department of Corrections. The jury found Eveline guilty of tampering with evidence and a Habitual Felony Offender under the law.

“Damien Eveline is a career crimi- nal," Koehn said. "Our local officers did a great job of putting a stop or a least a long pause to his criminal endeavors.” Eveline has previously been sentenced to and released from prison five times.

Records show Eveline has been jailed in Austin County 22 times. He also has multiple other convictions beginning in 1997 including Aggravated Assault with a knife, DWI, Assault Family Violence and multiple drug offenses.

Eveline was charged with flushing evidence down a toilet while officers executed a search warrant at his motel room. The warrant was obtained after Eveline sold drugs three times to undercover law enforcement.

Assistant DA Benjamin Nystrom presented the State’s case along with legal assistant Lisa Tobola. Bellville Defense Attorney John Anderson represented Eveline.

The jury deliberated one hour and 20 minutes before returning a guilty verdict and, later, a 60 year prison sentence with a possible parole date in 2037.

"Eveline was given literally a doz en opportunities to change his behavior throughout his life,” Assistant DA Nystrom states, “The jury’s sentence shows Austin County will not tolerate someone who spends his life hurting others and polluting the community with drugs.”

This conviction followed after the investigations by the Westside Narcotics Task Force includes local law enforcement along with Federal ATF and DEA.
