FLATONIA — Longtime Flatonia High School athletic director and head football coach Chris Freytag has resigned after having one of his best football seasons during his 13 year tenure.

Freytag led his team to an 11-2 season in 2022 and made it to the regional semifinals where they were defeated by a really good Shiner team who had one of the best players in the country in Dalton Brooks, a Texas A&M football commit.

Freytag will now work for a company called Team Funded, a place that assists athletic departments for schools and other entities on fundraising duties.

Freytag will be remembered at Flatonia for his vocal leadership during practice and at games, as well as holding kids accountable and treating everyone with kindness and respect, and he will surely be missed as a Bulldog.
