GIDDINGS — The Bellville High School girls soccer team battled Manor New Tech High School at Buffaloes Field Jan.

12 at a tournament hosted by Giddings High School. Bellville won in dominating fashion by a final score of 3-0 and controlled the ball on offense for most of the game on a day with heavy winds.

“I’d say just our forwards tak ing up the field and taking their shots when they had them,” said Bellville head girls soccer coach Catherine Landua. “Trying to work together as a team. We have a really young team. A very new team this year. Just getting them all to work together and support one another.”

Bellville forward Ciana Avile had her foot working in full force as she netted a hat trick while scoring all the team’s goals.

“Pretty much the team,” Avile said on how she had such a good day offensively. “The assisting, my teammates, us just working together, and just having a good time.”

The Brahmanettes threatened early on offense and eventually capitalized with 25:40 to play in the first half on Avile's first goal

on a fast break, putting it on the left side of the net to take a 1-0 lead. After two more shots on

goal from Bellville in the first half and one more in the 30th minute of the second half, Avile cashed in on her second goal about two minutes later.

Bellville would put three more shots on goal in the second half, two of them coming from Avile, then Avile put the icing on the cake for her hat trick with nearly six minutes to play in the match on a strike in the top left corner of the goal from the 10-yard line to head home with a 3-0 win.
