WEIMAR - Weimar Encore Lions Club has been awarded the prestigious 2022-2023 Robert F. Koennecke Award.
This award, in honor of Past District Governor Robert F. Koennecke, is awarded to the outstanding Lions Club of District 2-S5.
The Robert Koennecke Award honors the Lions Club which best exemplifies the motto "We Serve." Weimar Encore Lions has received the award twice in three years. The award is based on continuous distribution of funds to various charities both local, state, and international, consistently active in their zone and district with positive attendance in meetings and conventions, great support for the Texas Lions Camp,great respect and service in their community using various functions such as donations to the local library, First Responder Appreciations throughout the year, scholarships to graduating seniors, a well-rounded Lions Club and always exhibits that "can do" attitude.
Selection of the honored club begins with the appointment of a secret, three-member committee that receives nominations, reports of membership, community activities, and recommendations from the Leadership Team as to which club best exemplifies the "We Serve" motto in their respective communities.
Koennecke gave much of his time to civic organizations such as the Lions Club, among others. He also served as the director of the Texas Lions Club Camp for Crippled Children.
