COLUMBUS — The Live Oak CCA (Coastal Conservation Association) held its 20th annual fundraising and membership banquet on May 4, at the Colorado County Fairgrounds in Columbus.
The banquet kicked off with a social, cap games, card games and a silent auction. For dinner, Jerry Mikeska’s Barbecue crew once again served up a delicious prime rib and trimmings.
The live auction revved up and the bidding was brisk.
The live auction included iguana and python hunting, driving a tank, fishing expeditions, art work and a number of guns.
The CCA is a nonprofit ma rine conservation organization that started in 1977 after drastic commercial overfishing along the Texas coast.
Projects funded include scien- tific studies, scholarships, arti -
ficial Rees, and studies of water inflows and support local law en forcement.
