CAT SPRING AG TO HOLD BARBECUE

CAT SPRING - The Cat Spring Agricultural Society will hold its annual Barbecue Fest Saturday, June 3. Serving starts at 5 p.m., buffet style, including beef, pork and sausage and tea included. Drive-thru line for plates to go. Adults-$15 and children nine and under-free. Desserts will be available. Barbecue sandwiches and meat sold b the pound after 6:30 p.m. The event includes a live auction that starts at 6:30 p.m., deck of cards raffle, cake walk and fun for kids.

FATHER’S DAY/BBQ CELEBRATION PLANNED

MILLHEIM — Millheim Harmonie Hall will hold a Father’s Day and barbecue celebration Sunday, June 18 at the hall located on Farm-to-Market Road 949 between Sealy and Bellville. The meal is a real Texas style open pit barbecue served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The cost to make your plate and dine in is $15 for adults and $8 for children 10 and under. To go plates at the drive-thru are $15. The event will include a cakewalk, with homemade cakes, at 11 a.m.; balloons and face painting by Creative Twists, and live auction at 1 p.m. To donate items for the live auction call (979) 877-4996. CYBERCRIME PROGRAM PLANNED

COLUMBUS — The Friends of the Nesbitt Memorial Library and Industry State Bank are hosting a presentation on Cybercrime and security on Thursdya, June 1 at 2 p.m. at the Nesbitt Library in Columbus. This is a subject that impacts everyone and it’s a great opportunity to hear from the experts on how to recognize scams and protect yourself. LIONS TO HOLD DANCE

SEALY — The Lions Sealy Dance Club will hold a dance Saturday, June 3, at the Sealy American Legion Hall in Sealy. Al Sulak and the Country Sounds will provide the music from 7:30 to 11 p.m. Guests are always welcome.

AC JUDGE TO GIVE STATE OF THE COUNTY

SEALY — Austin County Judge Tim Lapham will give the state of the county address Wednesday, June 7 at noon at the Sealy Columbus Club. Lunch will be provided.

WALDECK FOOD TRUCK CHANGES

WALDECK — The Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) has decided to discontinue serving food as a drive-thru format. Now the Waldeck food truck will have food distribution as a walk-up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy reusable bags and boxes. A few wagons will be furnished by CTFB, but if the client has their own wagon, please bring it. Waldeck food truck is on third Saturdays of each month from 10 to 11 a.m. The 2023 dates are: June 17, July 15, Aug. 19, Sept. 16, Oct. 21, Nov. 18 and Dec. 16.

EL HOLDS FARMERS/COMMUNITY MARKET

EAGLE LAKE — Eagle Lake holds its Farmers & Community Market every third Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in downtown Eagle Lake. The event includes fresh produce, baked goods, arts & crafts, shopping, fun and music. Vendors are invited. For more information, call (979) 310-3053.

CC SENIOR CONNECTIONS OPENS SOON

COLUMBUS — The Colorado County Senior Connections, a place for seniors to socialize with others, will hold its first ever get together on Wednesday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Stafford Opera House in Columbus.

Card games, board games, educational speakers and bingo are planned. Lunch provided. Fun time will be every first and third Wednesday. CCSC is open to anyone 65 years and older. Be there or be square.

SACRED HEART TO HOLD PICNIC

HALLETTSVILLE —Sacred Heart Catholic Church will hold the Spring 2023 Picnic, celebrating the church’s 141st anniversary, Sunday, May 28 at the KC Hall in Hallettsville. Dinner will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with dining in the hall. Drive-thru plates-to-go will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meal is $12 a plate and includes country fried chicken, stew and homemade cornbread dressing. The event will also include a live auction at 1 p.m., cake walk, country store, religious articles booth and bingo from noon to 6 p.m. Washer pitching tournament will begin at 5 p.m. There will also be hamburgers, nachoes, popcorn, snow cones, and beverages. Music will be provided from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a free dance from 1 to 7 p.m.
