SCHULENBURG — The future of agriculture is promising!
Navidad Valley CattleWomen re - cently awarded $12,000 to elev en area youth whose futures will impact the beef industry in a big way.
All applicants were high school seniors from Fayette, Colorado and Lavaca counties with an in terest in agriculture. There were a number of applicants from the communities. Their applications reflected how bright the students were, shared civic and church involvement, along with their work ethic and big plans for the future. The students selected included: Colbey Schulze/Fayette- ville High School, Jules Janak/ Sacred Heart Catholic School, Tamara Otto and Grant Kubala/ Schulenburg High School, Aidan Miksch/Flatonia High School, Kannyn Goehring/Round Top-Carmine High School, Julia Machacek/St. Paul High School, Rachel Matocha,and Kylee Kelley/ La Grange High School, and Connor Barton and Kassandra Rubio/Weimar High School.
The Navidad Valley Cat tleWomen, a local chapter of the Texas Cattlewomen, is a non-profit organization that sup ports and promotes the beef industry. Scholarship funds are raised by the generous support of the sponsors of last year’s NVCW 5K Ranch Run. Cattle Women are presently planning the next event which will be held on Saturday, Aug. 5 in Schulenburg in conjunction with the Schulenburg Festival. The Navidad Valley local works to support local youth with scholarships and provide quality information on the industry and how to incorporate beef into a healthy diet.
Additionally, they work to support the community with targeted outreach projects that include a beefy twist.
