Previously, the Columbus PD responded to a call at the 2100 block of Walnut Street on Dec. 11, 2022, about an Eagle Lake Police unit with its emergency lights on and stuck in a citizen’s yard.

Off-duty Eagle Lake Officer Cannon arrived in his personal vehicle to pull the patrol car out of the yard.

As a result, citations were issued for Reckless Damage and Destruction and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility, a class C misdemeanor.

A Probable Cause Affidavit seeking an arrest warrant on Cannon was issued on April 28 after a thorough investigation into the possible fraud charge.
