FAYETTE COUNTY - Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek said, “If you are going to discard your narcotics during a pursuit, make sure ALL OF IT makes it out the window.” Sage advice.
On Dec. 28, 2022, at about midnight, Sgt. Ryan Meagher attempted to stop a Toyota truck on I-10 near mile marker 670. The vehicle failed to stop at which time the occupants of the vehicle began throwing what appeared to be narcotics from the vehicle.
The vehicle eventually came to a stop where a felony stop was conducted. Both occupants were taken into custody by Meagher, Deputy Holly Smith and Flatonia Sgt. Trey Tunis.
Both the driver and passenger had a white crystal-like substance consistent with methamphetamine on their hair, ears and clothes.
Deputies were able to collect about 20 grams of meth inside the vehicle that the suspects did not get to throw out the window.
The driver, Simone Hamilton, 56, of Katy was charged with Evading Arrest, Detention with a Vehicle, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Tampering with Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair. The passenger, Christal Potter, 52, of San Antonio, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Tampering with Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair.
