Market Days on the Square take a summer vacation
BELLVILLE — Saturday, June 3, locals and visitors to Bellville can kick off the start of summer with the Bellville Farmers and Artisan Market from 9 a.m. to noon. Pack up the cooler, the kiddos, and even the dog and shop essentials, sweet treats and artisan gifts under the shade of the Jim Bishop Pavilion. If you’ve not been before, the show is located where Bell St meets Palm St, right next to the Bell- ville Times office. Adjacent to the market is also Chesley Park with a playground, walking path, gazebo and picnic tables.
Held on the first Saturdays, this growing market just had a record
45 vendors in May. Shoppers will find lots of fresh produce, includ ing aquaponics lettuce varieties and microgreens, local honey, summer plants, farm-raised beef, chicken, pork and yard eggs. This month there will be wine tasting with Cummins Creek Vineyard, various samplings and even iced Bright & Early Cold Brew Coffee. There will be cheesecake, baklava, pies, macarons, kolaches, cookies and lots of local and area baked goods. Stock up on canned goods, salsas, spices, fresh herbs, oils and sauces, homemade noodles, jams, jellies and more. If you’re looking for gifts, artisans will have small batch soaps, candles, beard oils, jewelry, and even custom-made fishing lures good for that spe cial Father’s Day gift. You might be surprised at the ideas for Father’s Day or unique grad gifts you'll find right here at the show or around town with our retailers and eateries!
Even though Market Day on the Square is taking the summer off, don’t miss walking over to the square to cool off inside one of over 10 unique shops or have lunch at one of Bellville’s yummy eateries, including some new ones.
