EMS Director for Fayette County EMS Joshua Vandever released a statement to the public regarding the closure of La Grange’s Air Evacuation 47 base.
“I am the EMS Director for Fayette County EMS in Fayette County, Texas. It is my position that the community needs to be informed as to the situation surrounding the closure of La Grange’s Air Evacuation 47 base and I am writing to request that the company release a statement as to the closure of the base as well as to what is going to happen with the many members of our community who have purchased memberships through your company,” writes Vandever.
The company EMS Director Vandever refers to is the Air Evac Lifeteam. Air Evac Lifeteam is a part of the Global Medical Response company and is a paid membership emergency air ambulance service.
The Banner Press reached out to Global Medical Response Public Relations Department and received the following statement.
"Officials from Air Evac Life team today announced the closing of the company’s base in La Grange, Texas, effective immediately. The Air Evac La Grange air medical base opened in 1998 and served patients within a 150mile radius. Low utilization of the service and decreasing reim- bursement were significant fac tors in the decision to close the La Grange base.
AirMedCare Network will be making prorated refunds available to members in the Austin, Bastrop, Brazos, Colorado, Fayette, Gonzales, Lavaca, Lee, Victoria, Washington and Wharton counties in Texas.

PHI Air Ambulance located in Columbus is the primary air ambulance service for Austin, Colorado, Lavaca and Fayette County and is not a subscription service.
