KINGSVILLE - The Columbus High School baseball team's 2023 tenure has ended after a series loss to Santa Gertrudis Academy two games to one. Game one on May 25 had a final score of 4-2 in favor of Santa Gertrudis, game two, played May 26 was a 2-1 Cardinals win, then game three on May 27 was a Santa Gertrudis victory at 5-3.
Columbus has been a team that's had solid regular seasons under head coach Heath Allen. They've also had the ability to make noise in the postseason. The next step is getting over the hump to a state tournament birth, which this team is very well capable of.
