Weimar local attains priesthood

Luke Prihoda had his sights on the catcher’s mitt instead of the calling of the cross during his younger years. He played high school baseball in Weimar and college baseball for four years before moving to the minor leagues. After playing in the minor leagues, he coached for two years before realizing that God may have vested him with more than a strong arm and a commanding presence as a coach.

Prihoda grew up in Weimar, where his devout Catholic family instilled in him a faith that he would not realize impacted him in many ways. After coaching, Prihoda attended an ACTS gathering where the Holy Spirit moved in him. Eventually, he reorganized his priorities and looked to God for instruction after a discernment retreat at St. Mary’s.

According to The Catholic Lighthouse, Prihoda gave himself 40 days to let the Holy Spirit guide his decision. He is serving as Parochial Vicar at Saint Rose of Lima in Schulenburg.

He is now Father Luke Prihoda.
