Austin County tops the Vets

The Austin County Brewers scored three runs in the eighth and ninth innings to defeat the Weimar Vets 6-5 in a game de- layed by lightning on Sunday.

The Austin County Brewers scored three runs in the eighth and ninth innings to defeat the Weimar Vets 6-5 in a game de- layed by lightning on Sunday.

The Vets led 5-3 after seven innings, but could not secure the win. Brett Janacek pitched seven innings allowing only one earned run, striking out four, and walk- ing only two with nine hits.

Leading the offense were Alex Angerstein- two hits, run scored, walk, RBI; Janacek- two hits, run scored, walk, RBI; Jared Barton- two hits, walk, RBI; Kobi Valchar- two hits, two runs scored, RBI; Josh Morgan- two hits, run scored; Ryker Goehring- walk, run scored.

Defensive stand outs- Barton, Brady Bippert- gunning down a runner attempting to steal sec ond; Dayton Milner throwing out a runner at home trying to tag up from third base with Trey Dan - iels applying the tag to end the inning.
