Bellville and Columbus football poised to remain best teams among tri-county

As the school year comes to a close, that means football season is right around the corner. While there are many respectable teams in the tri-county area, Bellville and Columbus high schools seem to still be the premier programs at this point.

As the school year comes to a close, that means football season is right around the corner. While there are many respectable teams in the tri-county area, Bellville and Columbus high schools seem to still be the premier programs at this point.

The Brahmas have four-star 2025 defensive lineman D.J. Sanders who is listed at 6’3” 290 lbs and has just about every offer in the country. Bellville is also led by head coach Grady Rowe. Rowe has built a powerhouse at Bellville by sending players such as Richard Reese (Baylor) and Robert Briggs (Utah State) to play top-notch division one football. Sanders will be one of the biggest recruits, if not the biggest, Rowe has had in his tenure with the Brahmas.

Columbus fell just shy of a state championship birth last year and has a superb all-around team.

The Cardinals are led by head coach Matt Schobel and 2025 quarterback Adam Schobel (Matt Schobel’s son), who just recently committed to Baylor University and was on track to gain much more division one interest before committing to the Bears. Schobel is a players coach and his guys love playing for him, as shown on the field.

The NFL experience always helps and he’s also sent many of his athletes to play at the next level. Columbus and Bellville have great shots to make it to state yet again as football season approaches.
