COLUMBUS – The St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Columbus held a fundraiser on June 13 to help support churches in Peru.

COLUMBUS — The St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Columbus held a fundraiser on June 13 to help support churches in Peru.

A total of 387 tickets were sold and the church garnered $2,493.50 to send to its mission church in Caneta, Peru.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church supports Cristo Rey in Lima, Iglesia Cristiana Camino de Santidad in Canete and Dina Anton de Espinoza.

The monies raised from the June 13 fundraiser will go to Iglesia Cristiana Camino de Santidad for improvements to their building.

The church in Canete is in a very poor part of Peru. St. Paul’s has sent money to buy t-shirts for the children, Sunday school and Vacation Bible School supplies and simple meals of hot chocolate and pastries.

A majority of the funds the church sends to the church is designated for improvements to their church building such as a new roof, surrounding wall fortifica tions, bathrooms with showers and a kitchen renovation.

St. Paul’s main connection with Cristo Rey in Lima is to partner with them to support the boy’s school located in Huancabamba and the girl’s school in Quillazu.

Bicycles were purchased in the past for the boys to ride to school.

Churches such as St. Paul Lutheran Church can count their blessings and bless others that are less fortunate in third world countries.

Funds given to needy churches go a long way toward goodwill and spreading God’s love.
