Clint Jaeger brings winning culture to Fayetteville that Isn’t stopping any time soon

Isn't stopping any time soon

Fayetteville head baseball and volleyball coach Clint Jaeger doesn’t only win, he does it in more than one sport. Jaeger was able to take home two state titles in 2021, one in baseball and one in volleyball. In the years he didn’t make the state tournament for the two sports in 2022, he was one series away in baseball and lost his best player in volleyball during the playoffs, who happens to be his daughter, in Brooklyn Jaeger. If Brooklyn doesn’t tear her ACL in the postseason, Fayetteville more than likely makes another trip to the state tournament.

Jaeger hasn’t worked any place other than Fayetteville High School and it seems he’s in for the long haul. “Fayetteville’s the only place I’ve ever worked,” said Jaeger. “Came here right out of college and I was looking for a small school baseball job where I could possibly be an assistant with a chance to be a head coach. This was perfect.”

Jaeger’s baseball title in 2021 was with a team that consisted of only three seniors and ten combined freshmen and sophomores. Five months later, Jaeger turned around and won the state volleyball title with Brooklyn Jaeger leading the pack. Brooklyn is committed to play college volleyball at Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi this coming school year. “Just fortunate to have a lot of good athletes, a lot of good kids,” Jaeger said. “That’s part of the reason I’ve been here this long. It’s the kids. They’re hardworking and come from good families.”

Fayetteville baseball was one series away from going back to states the very next year, but fell just short to D’Hanis in a re- match of the 2021 regional finals.

A year later, Fayetteville faced D’Hanis in the exact same scenario and was able to take down the Cowboys in a 2-0 series win to head to their second state tournament in the last three years.

While the '22-'23 team had five seniors, it still had a young core that provided a heavy workload. Fayetteville has young athletes that can perform at an elite level, along with a coach like Jaeger at the helm who lives and breathes Fayetteville. Lions sports will continue to dominate with all the breeding of young talent, but having Jaeger running the show is a must to keep things in state championship order.
