Schulenburg murder has family ties

SCHULENBURG – Shots rang out and one lay dead for a deadly motive that Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek is not yet releasing. The deceased, Ricky Machicek, 64, of Schulenburg was shot by his son, Shane Machicek, 24, of Schulenburg on June 24 at about 9 p.m.

SCHULENBURG — Shots rang out and one lay dead for a deadly motive that Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek is not yet releasing. The deceased, Ricky Machicek, 64, of Schulenburg was shot by his son, Shane Machicek, 24, of Schulenburg on June 24 at about 9 p.m.

Brenek reported that a call came in of shots fired in the 200 block of Upton Avenue in Schulenburg. Two subjects were seen exiting the house as officers arrived. They were detained while officers investigated the shots. Ricky Machicek was found inside his residence dead from a gunshot.

Shane Machicek was arrested for First Degree Murder. The second subject that was detained was released. The Texas Rangers and the Fayette County Sheriff's Office assisted in the investigation.
