EAGLE LAKE - A collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian left the pedestrian dead at the scene, which happened on Farm-to-Market Road 3013 in Eagle Lake and FM 1093. The hit and run happened between 11 p.m. June 17 and 12:15 a.m. June 18.
The driver of the vehicle is not known. Evidence collected at the scene shows the vehicle is likely a Ford sport utility vehicle. The SUV is expected to have major damage to the front and passenger side.
DPS troopers collected the front grill material and front bumper parts.
The preliminary investigation, according to DPS, shows the SUV was traveling northeast on FM 3013 when it struck the pedestrian identified as Alejandro Madrid-Juarez, 50, of Eagle Lake. He was walking northeast as well.
The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and render aid and is currently being sought by law enforcement for questioning. DPS encourages anyone with information on the fatal crash to call the Texas DPS Houston Regional Office at (281) 517-1300.
