LA GRANGE — The Fayette County Commissioner’s Court held its regularly scheduled meeting on June 22. The agenda includ ed:
• Approved minutes from the previous meeting;
• Accepted public comment from Commissioner Drew Brossmann concerning his employees coming in earlier in the morning to get started on the road work so they can avoid the extreme heat;
• Granted the following application(s) requesting the division of real property: Melba Lee Hood Richter Estate located in Precinct 3; David & Kristin Stone located in Precinct 2;
• Approved the preliminary Plat from Terry Ward of Heart Field at Round Top subdivision located in Precinct 2;
• Recognized the following private road for mapping purposes only: Feder Way (Precinct 1) for the Feder Estates subdivision; Approved two (2) Ap plications for Permit to Lay Temporary Water Line in Road Right- of-Way, submitted by Dos Oilfield Services, LLC for said water line to be placed along Wehmeyer Road located in Precinct 3;
• Approved request from La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce to use the courthouse square, courthouse lawn, electrical plugs, and the Founders Park restrooms, on Saturday, July 29, 2023 for the "Market Under the Moon" event from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m;
• Accepted report from Fayette County Sheriff's Office;
• Accepted report from Josh Vandever, EMS Director;
• Accepted report from Angela Hahn, Emergency Mangement Coordinator & Grant Specialist;
• Entered into a Contract between Straight Line Services, LLC and Fayette County, Texas for the demolition, abatement and disposal of a residential home located at 858 Country Club Drive, La Grange, Texas;
• Approved additional costs incurred by Straight Line Services, LLC in the amount of $1,299.70 for the demolition, abate ment and disposal of a residential home located at 858 Country Club Drive, La Grange, Texas;
• Entered into a Contract between Compass Services and Fayette County, Texas for the demolition, abatement and disposal of a residential home located at 841 River Drive, La Grange, Texas;
• Accepted all bids and awarded the bid for the mulching/ grinding of brush at the Recycle Center to Eggemeyer Land Clearing, LLC;
• Signed a Resolution authorizing the submission of a grant application to the Capital Area Council of Governments for a regional solid waste grant program and authorizing Paul Zapalac, Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 and Recycle Center Director, to act on behalf of Fayette County in all matters related to the application;
• Rejected a grant award from the Glass Foundation;
• The Court denied the payment for a survey of real property to be donated to Fayette County by Mary Frazee. The survey isn’t required at the moment and can be done if necessary in the future; Entered into a five-year Contract with the Department of State Health Services, Vital Statistics Unit, to access the Texas Electronic Registration Remote System for the purpose of issuing individual birth certificates and authorizing the County Judge to sign any additional documents connected with the Contract; Acknowledged the fiber service drop plans and upgrades of Colorado Valley Telephone Cooperative, Inc (CVTC) to install new buried fiber optic cables and copper cables within the corridors of the following road(s): Florida Chapel Rd, N. Nassau Rd, Neumann Rd (two sections), Wolff Ln (Precinct 2) and Boulton Creek Rd (Precinct 3);
• Authorized the following class requests: Brenda Fietsam, County Clerk, to attend the 2023 County and District Clerks’ Association Annual Fall Conference held Sept. 11-13, 2023 in College Station; Terri Hefner, Elections Administrator and Gale Mersiovsky, Deputy Elections Administrator to attend the 41st Annual Election Law Seminar for County Election Officials from July 31 to August 2 in Austin; Constable Precinct 1, William Roensch, and Constable Precinct 3, Robert Chambers, to attend the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Insti tute of Texas Continuing education for Constables July 10-14, 2023 in Huntsville; Angela Hahn, EMC & Grant Specialist, to attend the TAC Legislative Conference August 30 September 1, 2023, in Austin; County Judge Dan Mueller to attend Mental Health Workshop August 24 in Victoria; Scott Wil ley, Ag Extension Agent, to attend the National Association of County Agricultural Agents Conference August 13-17, 2023 in Des Moines, Iowa;
• The Court voted to cancel the 3-year Crime Insurance for the Fayette County Ambulance Fee Collectors proposal by The Nitsche Group. After further research this policy is no longer needed due to the County having coverage under the current insurance policy with the Texas Associ- ation of Counties;
• Approved the renewal of Fayette County Employee Health, Dental & Vision Insurance for 2023 2024 with the Texas As sociation of County Health and Employee Benefits Pool effective 10/01/23. The County will be ab sorbing the additional cost so that the increase doesn’t get passed down to the employee; Declared a 2018 Chevro let vehicle as salvage and surplus property;
• Authorized County Judge to sign Fayette County Bank Depository documents with Fayette Savings;
• Authorized County Auditor to advertise for Fly Ash Soil for road usage;
• Approved the payment of currently due Fayette County bills and expenses;
• Accepted comments during the Budget workshop;
• The meeting adjourned at 10:36 a.m.
