Remembering the 50s

- Macaroni or spaghetti was king. Pasta was not yet invented.

- Christmastime meant oranges in the stocking.

- No such thing other than plain chips.

- Lard was for cooking. Oil went in the car.

- Tea came in one color and it wasn’t green.

- Only the rich could afford cubed sugar.

- Chicken fingers meant stewed chicken feet.

- What is yogurt?

- Cooking outside was called barbecuing.

- Seaweed was not in the food group.

- Prune juice helped the medicine go down.

- Cattle ate well. Their feed was muesli.

- Water came out of the faucet or a hose. Not in $4 bottles.

- Coffee was perked at home and cost pennies. Starbucks, anyone?
