SAN FELIPE — Off Interstate 10 in the town of San Felipe, over 58 entries statewide pulled up in their rigs to see who could claim the Throw-Down Barbecue winners spot at this years Sealybration. Nine kids entered their own sanctioned barbecue cookoff, as well. The country throwdown was held July 8 at the San Felipe Festival Grounds.
It wasn't all smoke and fire at the San Felipe Festival Grounds. Car and truck motors hummed a tune that only a Motörhead could appreciate. Twenty-plus entries vied for the four top spots of Best of… As the heat died down from the fire pits and exhausts and the Texas sun, music artists such as Sealy’s very own hometown favorite, Dylan Matthews entertained the crowd.
Co-chairs Leann Hein and Eric Crosby pulled some strings and pulled off a very successful event sure to be repeated again every year. Russ Rainwater, chair of the classic car show, sees the car and truck show growing as word spreads.
San Felipe Alderman Derrick Dabney checked out the smoke that smelled so sweet and seemed very pleased that San Felipe decided to partner with this event.
