LA GRANGE — The Fayette County Country Music Club will host their monthly Opry on Monday, July 17 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in La Grange.

The show starts at 7 p.m. and the doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $8 per person.

Dennis Stryk of Schulenburg, a lifelong resident of Fayette County, was intrigued with country music since the age of seven, spanning some 65 years.

In 1973, he became the lead singer for “The Wild West” and in 1976, the band "Wildfire" played dancehalls throughout south-central Texas. Also in 1973, he became owner and operator of New Bielau dancehall south of Weimar for 22 years.

Since 1995, he has been singing for weddings, funerals, and memorial and veterans events. For the past 11 and a half years, he become a member of a Christian musical group, “D’Vine Testament” All and all, you could say “he just loves to sing”.

Kimberlyn Krause is a 26-year-old Giddings native and has been a musician her entire life. She enjoys playing at various music venues all over Texas, but opries have always been her favorite gigs to travel to. She plays various instruments such as piano, guitar, ukulele, banjo, violin, accordion, and has recently taken up the harmonica. Krause has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and is a member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2019. So, when she’s not playing music, she is busy educating the future of America with first graders. The Fayette County Opry is one of the first opries she ever performed at when she was a young age of seven years old.

Mark Lehmann, a current Fayette County Opry band member, actually taught Krause guitar lessons when she was younger, so to play on the same stage as him all these years later is truly bittersweet for her. Music is truly her passion and always will be.

Lynn Landry is a singer-song- writer who organized his first band at an early age and began singing country music and Swamp Pop (old rock & roll) for parties, shows, nightclubs, and other events. Within a year Landry and his band were opening shows for such country music stars as Lefty Frizzel, Tex Ritter Conway Twitty and others. Since 2005, he has been singing Classic Country Music and telling “almost true” Cajun stories on family- oriented opry shows in East Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi. His original songs include a combination of country music, Swamp Pop, Ballads and Gospel. To date, Landry has released eight CD albums containing country music, swamp pop, gospel, and his original songs.

He is a native of Dutchtown and resides in Slaughter, La.

So be sure to be with us on Monday, July 17 for this great line of entertainment.
