Vets fall to Firemen

The Weimar Vets traveled to Fireman’s Park on Sunday.

After a scoreless first two in nings, Trey Daniels reached on a hit by pitch. Ryker Goehring blasted a home run over the left field fence scoring Daniels for a 2-0 lead. New Ulm took a 4-2 lead in the fourth. After seven innings the Fireman led 8-5.

The Vets left four runners in scoring position in the eighth and ninth taking the loss 8-6. Goehring started the game pitching the first three innings, striking out two, allowing no runs, and walking none. Cody Barrett pitched the eighth striking out two on no runs and no hits.

Offensive leaders were Goehring- home run, 2 RBI’s, run scored; Brady Henke- 3 singles, 2 runs scored, 2 stolen bases. Barrett- double, single, RBI; Clay Barton- 2 singles, RBI; Jeff Osborn- single, walk, sac, run scored; Kevin Polasek- single, run scored, walk; Alex Angerstein- RBI.
