Stabbing in Eagle Lake

EAGLE LAKE – Colorado County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Troy Neisner issued the following press release: On July 4, 2023, at approximately 9:35 p.m., the Eagle Lake Police Department responded to the 300 block of Simmons Street in reference to a male and female who had been stabbed at the residence. The suspect had fled prior to arrival.

EAGLE LAKE — Colorado County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Troy Neisner issued the following press release: On July 4, 2023, at approximately 9:35 p.m., the Eagle Lake Police Department responded to the 300 block of Simmons Street in reference to a male and female who had been stabbed at the residence. The suspect had fled prior to arrival.

Due to the nature of the call, the Colorado County Sheriff's Office and the Highway Patrol responded to assist the police department at the scene.

The suspect was quickly identified as a 14-year-old juvenile who was detained at a nearby residence by the Eagle Lake Police Department.

Colorado County EMS treated the victims, Rick and Martha Bagley of Eagle Lake, who suffered life-threatening injuries. Both were airlifted to Memorial Hermann Downtown Medical Center for treatment in critical condition.

The sheriff's office, who is leading the investigation and DPS collected evidence at the scene and at other locations including where the juvenile was apprehended.

The juvenile suspect was transported to the Rice Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries to the hand. He was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and subsequently transported to a Juvenile Detention Center.
