WALDECK FOOD TRUCK CHANGES
WALDECK - The Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) has decided to discontinue serving food as a drive-thru format. Now the Waldeck food truck will have food distribution as a walk-up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy reusable bags and boxes. A few wagons will be furnished by CTFB, but if the client has their own wagon, please bring it. Waldeck food truck is on third Saturdays of each month from 10 to 11 a.m. The 2023 dates are: Aug. 19, Sept. 16, Oct. 21, Nov. 18 and Dec. 16.
STS. PETER & PAUL TO HOLD FESTIVAL
FRELSBURG - Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Frelsburg will hold its Country Festival on the church grounds Sunday, Aug. 6 in Frelsburg. Holy Mass will be held at 8:30 a.m. and traditional Latin Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Frelburg's delicious fried frish meal will be served at $15 per plate, including butter potatoes, hush puppies, cole slaw, pinto beans, bread, pickles and tea. Children 12 and under are $10 per plate. Dine-in 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Drive-thru line from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Live auction begins at 1 p.m. followed by free dance with music by Blur Denim band. The event will also include kids games, toy raffle, ring toss, cake walk and bingo from 1 to 5 p.m. There will be a country store, regilious articles, raffle and silent auciton. LA GRANGE - Due to the extreme summer heat, Second Chance Emporium's new summer hours for the donations drop-off area located at 841 S. Reynolds St. in La Grange, now through Monday, Sept. 11 will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day.
ST. MICHAEL MEET THE TEACHER NIGHT
WEIMAR - St. Michael Catholic School in Weimar will host its annual "Meet the Teacher" event on Thursday, Aug. 3 from 5 to 6 p.m. Families are invited to bring school supplies and meet their child's teacher for the upcoming school year. SCHULENBURG - The Schulenburg Festival will be held Thursday, Aug. 3 through Sunday, Aug. 6 at Wolters Park in Schulenburg. The rodeo will be held Friday and Saturday. CARMINE TO HOLD CASINO NIGHT
CARMINE - The Carmine Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Wild West Casino Night Saturday, Aug. 12 starting at 6 p.m. at the Cedar Creek Schuetzen Verein in Carmine. The event includes a chicken fried steak meal. Fun games for prizes are Blackjack tables, money wheel, craps table and Texas Hold'em tables.
