The Colorado County Senior Connections - Columbus group recently received a sizable donation from the Jabez Foundation. The Jabez Foundation helps local nonprofits with startup monies so it may continue to serve the needs that the Jabez Foundation looks for in a nonprofit. Three Crosses Ministries administers the funds for the CCSC as it is one of its program initiatives.
The CCSC is for seniors aged 55 and older who are looking for activities to do such as dominoes, cards, fellowship, Bingo and lunch. Day trips and dances are in the works.
CCSC-Columbus meets every first and third Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Stafford Opera House-Buddy Rau Room in Columbus. Because of the recent donations, this gathering is free to all who attend.
Depression and anxiety can affect senior citizens who are isolated from others because of a lack of activities geared to their generation.
