COLUMBUS — Families who want to “putter around” get their wish granted at Nesbitt Memorial Library (NML) in Columbus Friday, July 28, from noon to 5:30 p.m. with Library Mini Golf! Friends of NML will magically make a miniature golf course appear inside the library in the newly remodeled facility! The magic act is brought to the community free of charge with the help of local sponsors. To add to the excitement, prizes and refreshments await the golfers at the end of the course!
“Our goal is to have every young golfer have a fun experience!” said Nancy Williams, an NML Friend. “It’s a neat and unique way to experience the Library on a hot summer day while staying cool inside!”
NML Friend Currie Luedecke shared, “A company that works with libraries across the US is coming to Columbus for the special event. With their help, we’re transforming the interior into 19 holes of miniature golf in and between the Library stacks. Shrieks of glee and claps of joy are welcome in a normally quiet atmosphere. Bring your friends to multiply the fun!”
Ester Chandler commented, “Friends of NML could not have done this extravaganza without the help of our generous sponsors. Because of their significant funding, everyone can enjoy this free event.”
Library Mini Golf also celebrates the end of a successful “Summer Reading Program” coordinated by Director Susan Chandler and her creative NML staff.
Over 225 young children enrolled in the program, including entertainment by actors with interactive presentations to promote learning while having fun.
A teen group of 25 and an adult group of 60 enjoyed separate summer reading activities.
In June alone, 4,300 books were read in the summer program, continuing through July.
Thirty-seven other library programs attracted 547 people. The numbers grow each year, along with lifelong learning opportunities.
Mini Golf is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate achievements and have fun at the same time.
This is your invitation to putt your way through NML and enjoy unique fun on July 28, noon to 5:30 p.m.
