SHERIDAN — Lucies Dog Project is a rescue, rehab, sanctuary and no-kill facility for dogs that assists Colorado and Lavaca County in sheltering canines that are in imminent danger of death. Lucies stands for Local Unity for Canines In Emergency Situations.

Lucies receives no county or government funding in their efforts to assist in sheltering the increased problem of dog dumping in our counties. It takes a number of people to keep the dogs happy and healthy. Lucies Project employs junior high and high school students.

It takes about $7,500 a month to operate Lucies Project. For the past nine years, it has operated solely on donations and another source of income - a giant flea market. To help put paws in shelters, go by the flea market and buy that treasure you have been looking for at 5321 W. Third St. in Sheridan. Its hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday through Sunday.

Lucies Project accepts donations of money and various dog items. It is a 501c3 registered charity. Send your donation to P.O. Box 325, Sheridan, TX 77475 or https://linktree/luciesproject.
