COLUMBUS — Ronny Haynie walked away from the Columbus Education Foundation auction on July 22 at Houndsong Brewing Co. in Columbus with a smile and an autographed football from Spencer Burford, right, offensive guard of the San Fran- cisco 49ers.
Burford was a special guest at the event to help raise money for CHS scholarships.
Items auctioned by CEF president Tom Hancher, MD and Robert Russell, CISD Board member, will help fund 2024 scholarships for both college and trade schools.
Burford is the grandnephew and godchild of Pastor Willie Mae Williams of Columbus. She described him as “talented, hum- ble and grateful."
Pastor Williams is a CEF Board member active in finding more educational opportunities for graduates.
