Columbus trio busted for drugs

COLUMBUS – Members of the Austin County Regional Special Response Team (SRT) executed an arrest warrant and a search warrant on two locations in Columbus on Aug. 2 at about 6 p.m.

COLUMBUS — Members of the Austin County Regional Special Response Team (SRT) executed an arrest warrant and a search warrant on two locations in Columbus on Aug. 2 at about 6 p.m.

The arrest warrant was executed in the 1400 block of Rampart Street in Columbus and the search warrant in the 1100 block of Walnut Street in Columbus. The operation was the result of an ongoing narcotics investigation by the Westside (HIDTA) Narcotics Task Force.

Task Force Officers had been investi gating reports of narcotics being distributed from a motel in Columbus.

Suspect Arlandace Johnson, 43, was located and arrested on an active warrant for the Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance. Suspects John Collins, 69, and Shovonnie Matthews, 34, were arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1. Methamphetamine was located and seized during the operation.

The Westside Narcotics Task Force covers four counties and is comprised of investigators from the Austin County Sheriff's Office, Bellville PD, Sealy PD, Hempstead PD, Waller County Sheriff’s Office, Fayette County Sheriff's Office, and DEA.

The Colorado County District Attor- ney's Office, Columbus Police Depart ment and Colorado County Sheriff’s Of- fice assisted with the investigation.
