EAGLE LAKE — Eagle Lake Noon Lions Club member Sam Kana introduced the program guest speaker Jamy Dingler, Volunteer Coordinator for Rice High School All-Sports Booster Club on Aug. 17.
Dingler is a 1993 graduate of Rice High School, where her son now attends. She highlighted two goals of the booster club: first is to raise enough funding to award a scholarship to students participating in at least sports each year during the four years of high school plus completing the service work required.
The club gives an average of $8,000 per year in scholarships. The second goal is to give back to the athletic programs at Rice tangible things such as equipment that will benefit more than one sport.
Booster club funds are raised by participating in one big fundraiser each year as well as selling Spirit-ware, such as Rice Raider Logo T-Shirts and other gear. The booster club also partners with different organizations in the community to staff the concession stand during football season.
