EAGLE LAKE — The Eula and David Wintermann Library in Eagle Lake had another very successful Summer Reading Program. The theme for the program was “All Together Now”. Programs were held each Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. from June 7 to July 19. There were 56 students enrolled. Books and certificates were given to 29 of those students who achieved the goals set for the program. Funding for the summer program was provided by a Dollar General Grant.
Entertainers for the summer included Houston Museum of Natural Science, A Real Mad Hatter, Talewise, Crocodile Encounter and Rick Stromoski, Cartoonist. The closing party was held on July 19. Winners were drawn for the prizes available to the students. In order to win a prize, the students were given a ticket each time they read 10 books, age 4 second grade or 375 pages, third sixth grade.
They would put their name on the back of the ticket and place the ticket in the box for the prize they were interested in possibly winning.
The students were rewarded with pizza, cookies and lemonade at the ending party.
There were 24 students and 20 adults in attendance.
