CARRIE GREGOR AUSTIN COUNTY —Austin County Clerk Carrie Gregor decided not to take the oath of office on Jan. 1 and re signed to pursue other endeavors.
What would have been her eighth term as Austin County Clerk, Gregor posted on her Facebook of her decision not to move forward as county clerk. Gregor wrote, “Although re-elected to my eighth term as the Austin County Clerk beginning 2023, I’ve decided not to take the oath of office on January 1, resign and pursue other amazing endeavors. Thank you to all my friends, family, constituents and most importantly my incredible staff for allowing me the honor and privilege to serve Austin County for the past 30 + years. I am truly blessed.”
Gregor served as the Legal Assistant and Victim Assistant Coordinator for the Austin County DA's Office before de - feating longtime Democratic incumbent Dorothy Himly in 1994. Austin County Judge Tim Lapham said the commissioner’s court will appoint her replacement.
