EAGLE LAKE - Donald T. Chaney has been named the new chief of police for Eagle Lake on Aug. 16 at the city hall meeting room in Eagle Lake.
Chief Chaney comes with almost 25 years of policing experience. His experience ranges within almost every position within a police department.
He was sworn in by Colorado County Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 Judge Stan Warfield. Chaney holds a Master Police Officer certification and is Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) certified in basic and advanced proficiency and a firearms instructor. He is a Mental Health Certified Officer and a qualified Citizen Response to Active Shooter Instructor. Chief Chaney has over 3,500 hours of TCOLE train ing. He lives in Glen Flora with his dog, Memphis and trusty stead, Ruby.
